Literature Text

I see you standing by the stagnant creek,
Consoling yourself with things best unsaid,
I have never seen you look quite this weak.
Once you were full of life, now you are dead.

Your eyes are brown like the roots of the Earth,
I drowned in them and life was hard to see.
Being with you felt like a second birth,
But you let me go and fell to debris.

Now your eyes look like puddles in the rain,
So I am here to salvage what we had,
To love you until you walk with a cane,
And to make sure that you never feel sad.

Come and rectify the things you did wrong,
Because next to me is where you belong.
This is a sonnet I had to write for my English class, as a mimic of Shakespeare. It had to be something about love, and it had to offer a proposal to whoever reads it.

If it wasn't obvious, this poem is written to my ex. Whom I still care about and always will care about, and all I ask is for him to feel the same way.

I hope you like it (:
