New Year's Wish

I remember this time last year,
Never did I imagine the troubles I'd face,
How I'd refuse to cry a single tear,
Or how my happiness vanished without a trace.

I thought this year would turn out alright,
But these last few months have been total Hell.
Gladly for you my sadness is a rare sight,
And I hide my pain deep within my shell.

Yet now the torment is finally ended,
And I just wish you'd leave forever.
Slowly but surely my heart has mended,
Now I am prepared to embark on a new endeavor.

But the one thing I wish for as my life begins anew,
Is to find somebody better than you.
